hutong

Hutong Foodcourt @ Lower Ground Floor, Lot 10 Shopping Centre, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Hutong is the few (and new) foodcourt in a shopping mall offering porkie as part of the menu (in Malaysia, that is). It's definitely an upgrade from its previous form, in terms of food, ambience and price. After months of renovation, Lot 10 Lower Ground Floor now has a refreshing outlook, bustling with activities.

Hutong has 27 foodstalls serving top-notch Chinese hawker food, which were hand-picked by YTL Managing Director, Tan Sri Francis Yeoh himself. Klang Mo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh, Petaling Street's Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee, Campbell Street mini popiah, Ho Weng Kee Char Siu wantan noodles, Hon Kee porridge, Luk Yu dim sum from Starhill Feast Village, Jalan Gasing Ipoh Chicken Rice, Soong Kee beaf noodles, to name a few.

The design of the foodcourt itself is something to take note of. Every inch of space is utilized to the max, creating a maze of alleys and islands of seating area.

narrow alley between the foodcourt and Isetan foodmarket:The design of the foodcourt is made to extend your views, making the place seemed larger than it is...
same floor and wall design: mirrors on all pillars:
all shelves are hanging and with no backs made of steel and glass:and as we walked on the staircase at the entrance, I got fascinated by the foodstall right next to the staircase, divided by a glass partition/ wall. People are sitting right next to the staircase too..Some of the crew shots:
The unlces at Soong Kee beef noodles posed for me :-)Dim sum auntie pushing the dim sum cart around and selling her wares... just like in a good old dim sum restaurant eh? :-) We saw carts being wheeled around selling drinks. The boys were shouting "Air! Air!" (water/ drinks in Malay)There's even a money changer wedged in between. If I were them, I would have name my money changer as "Hitung" - sync with Hutong ma... geddit? :-)... lame joke, nevermind... ("hitung" means count in Malay)Want to have a look around the foodcourt? huben77 did a walkthrough. Don't get giddy looking at it!

In the next post, we'll cover the food :-p
