I received a gift certificate for 2 adults for dim sum buffet at West Lake Garden, Sunway Resort & Spa, from Nizaa from Kancilbiru.blogspot.com. This smart cookie won the gift cert from Nuffnang Project Alpha Season 1. She even included a screen cleaner for me. Thanks for the lovely treat, Nizaa! :-) We went on Sunday and arrived at 11.00 am to enjoy the buffet for brunch. The kids had already taken their breakfast, so they ate little as their morning snack. Some of the spread from the buffet: We ordered plates of steaming hot dim sum (part of the buffet) This has to be my favourite for the day… egg tarts with the flakiest, lightest crust with the yummiest egg custard. The kiddo’s favourite – fishballs. But for that day, they called them jellyfish :-). Hubby’s favourite: A little while later, we heard an enchanting melodious tune of a guzheng. A lovely lady was strumming beautiful tunes that enchanted the kids, especially HQ. He asked me “What is the name of that piano?” (he concluded that the piano and guzheng are similar in function, but knew they were different), “Who is that jie jie?”, “How she know how to play that guzheng?” and “How long she learn to play that guzheng?” (I was surprised with his last question)
I couldn’t answer all his questions. He was so curious that he asked me to accompany him to ask that jie jie. He was really shy at first, but he got his answers. That talented and pretty lady is Ms. Lum and she started learning to play at 5 years old. Due to integrity, she did not disclose the name of her music centre but said that if HQ is interested, he can start taking lessons as he's going to be 5 in May. HQ even went ahead and asked whether he can strum on the instrument. And Ms. Lum was so nice to said yes! So, for the rest of the dining time, the kids ceased running around and sat at the front table. Ms. Lum earned two new admirers :-). West Lake Garden, Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa is a good place to have dim sum buffet, with its good services, a wide spread of delicious food and lovely ambience. We will be coming back :-).
We left at 12.30 pm for Sunway Pyramid to do a little Chinese New Year shopping. After our shopping, we were lucky to catch a Chinese acrobatic show. Needless to say, the kiddos were impressed! HQ gasped and clapped after each notable act was done :-) Next came the scary bits… kids, don’t try this at home… After the acrobatic show, which lasted half an hour, we had a little snack of xiao long pau and piglet buns at Dragon-i before leaving for home.
So on that day, we enjoyed a mixture of our rich cultural inheritance - dimsum (thanks to Nizaa), a little bit of Chinese traditional music and a little Chinese acrobatic show. And of course, HQ had lots to tell his grandparents the next day :-).
