QQ's choice

On our way home from my Mum's house last night, we stopped by 99 Speedmart to grab some milk powder for HQ. We noticed that EnfaKid is most cost effective in its double refill pack 1.3kg from 99 Speedmart, whereas QQ's milk powder, EnfaGrow is cheapest during Isetan sales in its 1.7kg tin.

While hubby and I went for the milk powder, the kids scampered off to the snacks aisle *shake head*

After getting what we wanted, we went to look for the kids. HQ had chosen a packet of Tong's Garden toasted pistachio nuts, which we ok-ed. And we saw QQ holding a huge packet with both her hands, like some precious commodity. Holding it up to our view, QQ pleaded with her puppy eyes:QQ: Mama, please buy this for me. I think it's very nice one... See, got "Very Good" here. Sure very nice one...

What "Very Good"???

sleepy heads

My sleepy kids :-)

Still in their pajamas because we're heading to Popo's house on a Saturday morning before Mama and Papa go to work (I work on alternate Saturdays... boo hoo!). Papa was closing the gates so they're not properly strapped to the seat belts yet... still half asleep :-).

As you see in the picture, QQ is the more manja sibling :-). Always have been... "Korkor, please wear my seatbelt for me", "Korkor, please take this for me", "Korkor, do that for me", etc. And Korkor is ever so sweet in indulging her (nearly) every request :-). Often, when QQ wakes up at the wrong side of the bed, it is Korkor who successfully makes her smile again.

They do sometimes fight, scream, and bring the worse out of each other. Sometimes making me want to wallop the whole chocolate cake just to de-stress. But when they are seated closely together whispering, giggling and being sweet, I feel so thankful that I'm blessed with these two angels :-). These are the bittersweet of bringing up kids, I guess. But I'm loving it and not looking back :-).

Barbara & Ashley

When these two names are placed side by side, Barbara and Ashley, anyone would immediately think of chumsyashley.info.

Barbara, the bagel loving and shopping crazy mummy, is one of the friendliest mummy I have came across :-). She has recently bought a Mod Red Sundress and a few hairclips from nivnivHandmade. Thank you for the opportunity and your trust in my handiwork, Barb :-D.

You can read about her purchase here. Her little Princess looks so beautiful modeling the dress, I just have to share... here's Lady Gaga Ashley :-).Why Lady Gaga Ashley, you may ask? For those of you who do not know already, do hop on to chumsyashley.info to read about this sassy little missy with her many "Oh Ashley moments" :-D.

public embarrassment

Growing up, I had a knack of getting myself embarrased... amongst others, there's an incident where a boy that I had a crush on had a full view at my pink polka-dot bra... from my luggage bag, not from where you think, ok! Being only 14 and a pure breed Convent girl, it was already very embarrasing for me! *dug hole and hid myself*

Today... after nearly 20 years later, I got myself embarrased again.

I had an appointment with a prospect customer early this morning. As her office was only 2 stations away, I took the monorial. Save myself from the morning traffic jam.

I arrived early, so I went to O'Brien's for breakfast. I ordered their promo breakfast set, consisting of 4 triangles of toast and chicken ham sandwich with coffee or tea. I luurrrve coffee but it makes me hyper, so it's tea then. Only RM 7.90 per set; simple but yummy! I ordered an additional Lambda tropical juice in a chilled bottle. The set was quite filling so the bottle of juice was tucked into the document pocket in my laptop bag.

Off I went to see my customer and after a 40 minutes presentation and chat, I left her office. I took a nice relaxing stroll to the monorial station.

There were a number of people in the station. While I was waiting for the train to arrive, my right calf felt ticklish, like there's liquid streaming down. I quickly took a look and was aghast to see bright orange liquid quickly tickling down my calf! Immediatly I knew it was the tropical fruit juice! Arrrghhh!

I quickly rummaged through my laptop bag, felf the bottle and yank it out. I thought there was a leak and the bottle cap was still intact. But no... turned out the bottle cap was totally unscrewed and as I yanked the bottle out quickly, a stream of orange liquid spewed from my bag across a small part of the station!

OH. MY. GOD.

Luckily nobody benefitted from the orange shower.

And as luck has it, the train arrived at that very moment.

With half a bottle of juice still in hand, and another hand holding my laptop bag and handbag, I went in the train with the rest. The moment the door closed, I regretted stepping in the train.

There were no seats available and I got to stand. There's not many people standing (can't hide behind anyone), so I was in full view of the seated passengers.

Looked like there's still a LOT of sticky bright orange juice in the laptop bag, and it continued tickling down my calf... leaving a small orange pool at my foot.

I know, I must be quite a sight :-(

Moral of the story: Never trust a bottle's seal. All bottles leak... worse, the caps can come off totally!

Moral of the story 2: Never enter a train when you are not ready.

~ End of story. Thank you.

ms. itchy fingers :-)

Right before going out... Upon reaching destination...
Grrrrrr!!!!!

Can you spot the hole on her stocking? Of course you can, it's HUGE!

This little missy has really itchy fingers and will peel, scratch, pull and yank things that she finds fascinating in texture... like her Barbie stockings here. Other times would be her hairclips, rubberbands, belts, buttons, ribbons!

Sad thing is, this was only the second time she wore those stockings :-(.

mum's birthday mini celebration

This is a back-dated post... Mum's birthday was end of last month, which we had a belated mini celebration on 1 August 2010.

Like last year, we had steamboat at home. We all love steamboat, especially when mum makes them :-). It was so yummy I long to eat it right now as I'm writing... hahaha, yeah, we're all steamboat fans :-).

This is a must-have... spicy and sour chilli sauce that mum blended; the bird-eye chillis were from her garden. Lots of Mum's homemade water dumplings ("siu kow"), to top our noodles before pouring in the tasty soup. Raw seafood to be added into the pre-boiled and sieved free-range chicken and ribs soup (part of it had gone into the soup). Red meat and chicken breast meat were already in the soup, so no picture. Lots of greens! And this is hubby's favourite... deepfried soybean sheet with fish meat paste. My bowl of noodles waiting for the "liu" and flavorful soup. I had 3 servings! :-PSoup is ready! With tummies filled, everyone was happy :-). When I suggested for cakes at a nearby Secret Recipe, everyone groaned and said "No, thank you!" :-P

QQ *slap forehead*

I was in the kitchen when I realized QQ was in the bathroom for a very long time. I went in to have a peek and saw her standing on a low stool, scrubbing her hands feverishly with soap, water running.

Mama: Meimei, what are you doing?
QQ: I washing my hands.
Mama: I think your hands are very clean now; you can stop washing already.
QQ: No la... see? This magic pen ink on my hand... koko draw one. Koko is sooooo naughty ya?!?!!

Koko was in near vicinity and heard what QQ said. And quickly exclaimed:
HQ: Hah??? Meimei, what did you say? Who naughty?

Upon hearing what Koko said, QQ's story took a 360% turn...
QQ: No no!! Nobody naughty!! I think I accidentally draw on my hand only la... hee hee hee

o.O"

Like that also can!!! My goodness!

*slap forehead*

QQ is so different from HQ. Where HQ will tell the truth or just keep mum when he did something wrong, QQ will:
- say it's not her fault
- effectively use her tears
- or change topic, most of the time saying irrelevant things like "I like you very much, Mama", with a sweet smile and a gentle hug
- and refuse to say sorry

*roll eyeballs*
I think with guidance, she'll turn out well as she grows older, but right now, she has proven she is the more mischievous sibling!

"gold picking"

Do your kids like to pick their nostrils?

Mine do... and we can see that they really relish in that activity. When we ask them not to do it, HQ said that there's too much "gold" in his nostrils and he can't breathe. We clean their nostrils with wet cotton buds but they still think their little fingers can do a better job.

So we resort into scaring them... we thought a little white lie won't hurt ;-). This happened last night:

Mama: QQ, stop picking your nostrils.
QQ: *turned so that her back faced me, kept picking*
Mama: If you keep picking like that, your nostrils are going to get reaaaalllllly big, and you'll look so ugly like a pig!
QQ: *ignored me and kept picking*
Mama: Then spiders will go in your nostrils and stay there!

That caught her attention.
QQ: Why?
Mama: Because if you keep picking, your nostrils will get so big, spider are able to crawl inside. They like dark places, and are going to stay in your nostrils. Like their home!

Looking perplexed, my three year old quickly exclaimed:
QQ: But my nostrils have no air cond!

HAHAHAHAHA! True enough, I don't think her nostrils are comfortable to be made home, even for spiders! Kids say the darnest things, don't they? :-D.

funny QQ

As of 5 August 2010:
QQ's age: 3 years old
Weight: 16.1 kg
Height: 108 cm
.......................................................................................................................................

QQ was fussing and crying one night... one of her "fighting sleep" session where she's so tired and cranky but just didn't want to go to sleep. She has a loud voice too, and her crying was waking HQ up. Hubby was tryiong to get her stp crying.

Hubby: Meimei, stop crying ok? You look so ugly when you cry.

Although QQ is a tomboy, she's also a vainpot. This statement usually gets her stop crying immediatly, but that night, she retorted with:

QQ: I want to cry! I don't want to be pretty anymore! I WANT TO BE UGLY!

So... should we be calling her Princess Ugly now? LOL!

...................................................................................................................................

My kiddos love animals, and had been pestering for pets. We wanted to wait till they grow older first. But that did not stop them from dreaming up their "dream pets" :-).

Overheard conversation:

HQ: I want to have 3 pets. All dogs... one wolf-dog, one bulldog and one chihuahua :-D.
QQ, didn't want to be left out, exclaimed:

QQ: I want to have pets too... one cheeky dog and one silly cat!

Hahahahahahahaha! We had a good time laughing!

parents-teacher meet up

I have not done HQ's school update for some time now. Better note this down for HQ's development record purpose before my poor memory fails me. Will try to cover all in a few short paragraphs.

HQ's school had a Parent-Teachers meet up for last school term. Basically the kids sat for their examinations for the following subjects - English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Mathematics, Phonics and Science. Save for Mandarin (95 points) and Bahasa Malaysia (91 points) due to careless mistakes, HQ scored 100 points for other papers.

Overall: More details: as expected, he needs to brush up on his Mandarin reading and writing skills. Remarks from his teacher: All in all, I think he enjoys school very much :-).

Right now, he's having Spelling, Ejaan and "Ting Xie" every week (5 words for each language). There's usually no problem for his Spelling and Ejaan, whereby he practices on his own and later we will test him. This usually takes about 10 - 20 minutes on Sundays (before he's allowed to watch teevee :-D).

As for "Ting Xie"... I need to learn alongside with him to be able to test him! So now, this old mama is learning Mandarin too... never too late huh? Haha
