We made a trip to the beautiful state of Penang last weekend for a 3D2N stay. Hubs got us all up bright and early on that Saturday morning and we were on our way at 5.00am. (kids still in their pajamas!). Good decision, as we didn't encounter any jam along the way eventhough it's a Dumpling Festival weekend. Along the way, QQ fell asleep for another hour, but HQ was wide awake since 5.00am :-(.
Since we did not do much of a celebration for HQ's previous birthday, we let him decide most of the itinerary of this trip. Of course we helped by giving options, and he made most of the decisions. He was happy as a lark :-).Things that he wanted to do:
1. go to the zoo
2. go swimming
3. go to the beach
Items 2 and 3 were easy, but item 1 was slightly tricky. There's no zoo in Penang! And so Hubs suggested Botanical Garden (for monkeys), Snake Temple (for snakes) and Kek Lok Si (for tortoises and fishes). HQ was game :-).
When we reached Penang at 9.45am, our first stop was breakfast at the foot of Kek Lok Si Temple. After which we proceeded to the temple. Eventhough it was still early at about 11.00am, the sun was blazing hot!
The majestic Goddess of Mercy - Kuan Yin, which was just being built when Hubs and I went to this place 6 years ago : There's statues of 12 Chinese zodiacs; the kids snap with a few of them: We did a bit of sight-seeing: There was this man-made pond with lots of colourful koi fishes: We sat in the pagoda in the middle of the pond and HQ lose no time to feed the kois... cheerios :-). QQ joined him too. The kois flocked to where the kids were feeding them; I think they don't get to eat cheerios very often :-)After feeding the kois and having a long peek at huge tortoises (in the pond behind HQ in the picture), HQ was sure a happy boy :-). Next, I will update on the place that we stayed in in Penang.
