dad's and mum's birthday celebration

Back-dated post

July is a birthday month in our family. The first that we look forward to is Dad's birthday on the 17th. We will either have dinner outside or homemade steamboat prepared by Mum. This year, we ate out.

As Mum's Chinese birth date is just 2 days away from Dad's, like most years, we make it a 2-in-1 celebration. Here's the dinner menu: seafood fried rice with ebiko, marmite pork, steamed fish in thick ginger sauce, house specialty tofu, prawns in salted egg yolk sauce and fried water convolvulus in belacan sauce. HQ is such a funny chap that night... he loved the ebiko fried rice and would eat nothing else *shake head*. In contrary, he picked on the dishes using his chopsticks, placed the food in our bowls, and encouraged us to finish them! We later sang a birthday song and blew candles - mixed fruit sponge cake. On Mum's actual English calendar birthday, my brother got another birthday cake for Mum, chocolate cheese from Miki Ojisan :-). Happy Birthdays to both my wonderful parents, Mum and Dad! Thank you for being there for us always! And may both of you live long, happy, healthy and blessed lives! :-D.

The birthday marathon continues with my nephew and QQ's birthday, which I will blog later :-).

Here's my little munchkin trying to help me to hang clothes out to dry. I was already done when she ran out declaring "I want to help!", and so I pulled down 2 mismatched socks for her to "help".

I thought she would just plop the socks on the clothes rail like I did, but she fetched down a clothes hanger from the rail instead. I wondered what she's going to do with it? Hahaha... look at her adorable frown... she knew how she wanted to hang those socks, but was obviously flustered by the mechanics of it :-P. After some experiments and changing of the clothes hanger, twice (as if the colour of hanger does matter), she successfully pulled the socks into the hanger and hung them this way :-D. She felt great achievement, and I admired her for her determination. But at the same time, I couldn't help but LOL! I found it hilarious!

My girl? She didn't find it funny one bit, and couldn't care less.

Not forgetting some birthday notes - Gabriel, my nephew, turned 6 yesterday, and QQ is 4 today! Happy birthday, dearies! :-D.

My kids adore their cousins. So whenever anyone of us is on the phone talking to my Sis in Singapore, my kids will beg us to let them speak to their cousins.

On one occasion, I was surprised to find that the conversation between HQ and his cousins was more brief than usual. I asked him:

Me: How come you talk so little on the phone this time?

HQ: I don't understand what Rafa said. He's speaking Japanese!

LOL!!! HQ is still not used to hearing Rafa talking (English, but most probably sounds like Japanese to HQ). Rafa's only 22 months old, but he's talking like a parrot already :-D.

HQ: 6y 1m old; Rafa: 22m old

photos: pool time at holiday inn, penang

Back-dated post. Penang trip was between 4th June 2011 - 6th June 2011. Related posts here , here, here, here and here.

The kids enjoyed a short, but marvelous time at the pool in Holiday Inn, Penang. There's one really small kids pool, and since it's crammed with kids and mummies, hubby brought the kids to the adults pool, at the most shallow section. Which was already reaching HQ's chest.QQ was apprehensive at first, as her legs could not reach the bottom. But once she's confident enough floating in her little "life jacket", she happily bounced along :-). While drinking and spitting a lot of pool water :-).
