no longer wants to be a princess (when she grows up)

Hubs was telling QQ about the Duck Tour (a bus that can run on land and water). Hubs said that when she grows up, cars might be able to fly as well.

QQ: When I grow up, I want to be a scientist. I want to check out how they can do it. I will work as a scientist and only come back and visit you on holidays.

Me: Why come back only on holidays?

I was expecting her to say that she would have gotten married and stay with her husband.

QQ: Because a scientist have to work very far away. I will have my adventures and you wait for me at home.

Still a month shy from being 5, and she's already thinking of jilting me. LOL!!!

her "acrobatic" moves :-)

As part of Father's Day celebration, we watched Magadascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. The kids loved the movie; even hubs and myself enjoyed it :-).

So there's these swinging trapeze, dancing on the tight ropes, and acrobatic moves done by the circus team. For kids who initially thought circuses are all about animals' tricks and nothing about acrobatic moves (can only be done by men in reality), they were impressed!

So the other night, when HQ has slept, QQ imitated the circus moves that she saw in the movie. After awhile, she grew tired, and started making 2 figurines, that she had with her in the room, walked on tight ropes and doing some acrobatic moves instead. With her as the platform @@. She insisted that I snap photos of her. So I thought why not share some of them here, for her to see when she grows up :-)

QQ at 4y 11m old. Can't believe she's growing so fast!!!

"It's a dangerous business, going out your door,
you step on to the road, and if you don't keep your feet,
there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

Bilbo Baggins, The Lord of the Rings

This has been my favourite quote for a very long time :-)
Can't wait to hop and skip out of THAT door :-D

have you...

have you ever felt you wanted something very badly,
for a very long time,
and when it's finally right in front of you,
you feel that you're not ready for it?

and because it means so much to you,
you're afraid you might just screw it up,
and it didn't turn out to be as perfect as you have dreamed?

HQ's first robotics competition

From March this year, HQ attends Robotics class in school for 2 hours every Saturday. He loves this class from the start :-). For this school holidays, the school organised a Robotics competition and HQ was one of the 7-year-old chosen to compete.

The competition was a grueling 3-hour event for 3 continuous days. HQ came home exhausted and hungry everyday. He even took afternoon naps (which he never does anymore since he's 3 unless he's really knackered)!

On the second day of the competition, he developed a nasty fever. Bummer! We told him that it's alright if he wants to stay home and not continue with the competition. But he wanted to attend so we let him after a dose of Paracetamol.

We were already happy that this event had already done good to him; as an eye-opener and a beneficial holiday programme - cut down his TV time by 3 hours a day at least! Ha!

After the third day of competition, HQ came back with a throphy recognizing his outstanding performance. We knew this meant a lot to him, and we're really happy for him. We hope he will continue loving his Robotics classes :-).
